Government Over Private Sector Jobs? I Don't Think So . . .

Today from "The Hill", Democrat Senator Harry Reid said that government jobs must take priority over private sector jobs.

In response to Mitch McConnell's accusation (and in my opinion, correct assessment) that Democrats were purposefully pursuing higher taxes as part of the teacher/first-responder bill, S. 1723, so that Republicans would oppose it, Reid stated, "It's very clear that private-sector jobs have been doing just fine; it's the public-sector jobs where we've lost huge numbers, and that's what this legislation is all about."

First of all, WHAT PLANET ARE YOU LIVING ON, HARRY REID where you believe that the private sector is doing "just fine"!?

As a person who is currently watching a MAJOR layoff happen at the company he is at, I can assure you that the private sector jobs ARE NOT "just fine".

As for the public-sector "losing huge numbers" of jobs, that's just a load of crap.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, let's look at some cold hard numbers.

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, since Obama took office:

  • Approximately 2.2 million people have lost their jobs.
  • 1.6 million jobs were lost in the private sector
  • 600 thousand jobs were lost in the public sector.
Maybe it's just me but I think that the private sector is doing a LOT worse than the public sector.  Here are a few charts to illustrate our economy since Obama became President:

President Obama also promised that his Stimulus Plan "had to be passed RIGHT NOW" and if it was passed then unemployment wouldn't go above 8%.  Below is the unemployment chart showing Obama's predictions on where unemployment would be if we didn't pass the stimulus plan; where he said it would be after passing the plan; and IN RED where the unemployment ACTUALLY IS as a result of passing the stimulus plan.

Maybe I'm just letting the numbers blind me to what my heart, feelings and emotions tell me should have happened by passing this exorbitant boondoggle of a debt bill, but . . . I DON'T THINK IT WORKED!  In fact, according to Obama's own calculations, if we would have done NOTHING AT ALL we would have been much better off than we are now.  So forgive me if I look at the facts and think that this new "Jobs Bill" isn't going to work either!!!

Let's use some common sense here and look at some more facts:

  1. Government DOESN'T create jobs.  In fact it can't "create" anything.  The only thing that it CAN do is TAX one group of people and use that money to give it to another group of people.  It's called, redistribution of wealth, or, if you are confused by that terminology, it's ALSO called THEFT or STEALING.
  2. Government can only TAX from people that DO create jobs.
  3. If the people who create jobs have less money they won't be able to create as many jobs and will, in fact, probably have to lay off their current employees.
  4. Something that most people don't think about; taxes collected from people in the public sector with government jobs DOESN'T COUNT!  If the government uses other peoples money to create a job and then TAXES that same job it's just taking back the SAME MONEY that it just gave away!  Let's say a THIEF steals 2 credit cards.  On one credit card he spends a lot of money.  He then uses the other credit card to pay the bill.  He keeps doing this until both credit cards are MAXED OUT.  Once they are maxed out he calls the credit card company and asks for a credit increase (or, he RAISES HIS DEBT LIMIT!)
People, this is what we are doing today.  We have to wake up and say STOP THE MADNESS!!  We have to realize that government can't create.  It can only take and redistribute.  Only Entrepreneurs and Business people can create new wealth in this country and the only way we can do this is by getting out of the entrepreneurs way, reducing regulation, lowering taxes.

This is the only way we can "expand our base" (or in plain English, create more money so that there is more of it to go around).  I'll leave "expanding the base" for another article however and let you ponder these tidbits till next time.

Students Forced to Stand and Say Mexican Pledge of Allegiance

In an era when teachers are being told that they can't say the American Pledge of Allegiance in class anymore, apparently it is okay to have students memorize and recite the Mexican Pledge of Allegiance.

In a Blaze exclusive, in McAllen, TX, approximately 10 miles from the Texas/Mexican boarder, students at Achieve Early College High School were forced to memorize and stand and say the Mexican Pledge of Allegiance as a part of their grade.  One student, 15 year old Brenda Brinsdon refused to participate and recorded the event.

"I just thought it was out of hand, I didn't think it was right," she told The Blaze.  "Reciting pledges to Mexico and being loyal to it has nothing to do with learning Spanish."

Brinsdon's offence of the assignment from teacher Reyna Santos's class was primarily because it took place during "Freedom Week," the week after the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks, and on U.S. Constitution Day, which happens to be the same day as Mexico's Independence Day.

"Why are we doing their independence when it's Freedom Week and it's also Constitution Day?" she said.

People, parents, and citizens of The United States of "AMERICA", we need to wake up and start taking some action.  If you have a child in school today, you need to ask them what they are being taught.  You need to get a copy of the curriculum for your children and READ IT all the way through.  As a former teacher, this is their weakness.  Because of the bureaucracy in the school districts, schools usually provide a very detailed curriculum of exactly what they will be teaching your children.  PARENTS:  they are hiding it in plain sight and it is up to you to expose what they are doing.
Get your child's curriculum.  Ask your child what he or she is being taught.  Ask the teachers what they are teaching.  Do it NOW, or else the next time you see your kids after they graduate will be protesting at Occupy Wall Street.

Shredding the Constitution: from suspending elections, less democracy to Super Committee's

I know that there are some people out there today that would just rather bury their heads in the sand than acknowledge the signs of people on the Left wanting to take our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights and shred it into little tiny pieces.  It's also frustrating that the media seems to be one of the ones whose head is stuck in the ground.  Well let me re-phrase.  Either the media is actively ignoring the stories about our sacred documents being denigrated or it is complicit and is helping accomplish it's very destruction.

Take for example the recent article by Peter Orszag, former director for the Obama administration for the Office of Management and Budget, entitled, "Too Much of a Good Thing" from The New Republic magazine.  In the article, Orszag decries the partisan bickering going on in Congress and blames it for nothing getting done at a government level.  His primary example is the recent debt-limit debate that had Congress and the President at odds.

What's his solution to the situation?  In his words, we need to "minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions.  In other words, radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic."

Well, you're right about one thing Mr. Orszag, it DOES sound radical.  Let me clarify your desire a little more for people.  What you would really like to have happen is to take away the Constitutions ability for "Checks and Balances" that prevent crazy ideas and policies from both the Left and the Right from being passed.  Mr. Orszag,  there is a reason the Constitution was written the way it was and this issue is expressed clearly in what is known as the Separation of Powers.  If you were familiar AT ALL with the Constitution you would realize that what you are so eager to get rid of is EXACTLY why we need it.

Unfortunately for all of us, and I'm sure Mr. Orszag is pleased with this, we are already bypassing the Separation of Powers with the new 12 member Congressional "Super Committee" made up of 6 Republicans and 6 Democrats.  Why is the "Super Committee" important?  Here are a few things that it has the ability to do:

  1. Bills created by the committee are guaranteed an up or down vote.
  2. When the bills reach the floor they cannot be modified with amendments by House or Senate members.
  3. Bills created by the committee cannot be filibustered.
In other words, this committee gives 12 people the power of the entire Congress with no opportunity for dissent or change and whatever they come up with will be greased  straight through to the President.  So much for Separation of Powers.  This "Super Committee" could essentially eliminate the power of Congress altogether.

But if none of that works, there is always the idea by N.C. Governor Bev Perdue.  (The Blaze)She stated yesterday that, "I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover.  I really hope that someone can agree with me on that," she said, "You want people who don't worry about the next election."

Gee Bev, that sounds like a great idea.  After all, if we can't bypass the Constitution and show these horrible policies down the American peoples throats any other way, maybe we can just suspend the elections so that we can make sure we stay in power....  I think the last time I heard about this type of action was when I was studying Communist Russia or Nazi Germany.  After all, we all know that the people at TOO STUPID to be able to elect a representative form of government that will push forward our hard leftist plans.

Sorry Bev.  On that you are wrong.  2012 is going to be the year where the sane people will take back the asylum and put you all back in your padded cells.  It's time to stop this craziness.  It's time to re-institute common sense back into our government.  Folks, it's time to take back our Constitution and get back to it's basic principals.  2012.

Racial Politics and the . . . Right? I Don't Think So.

When you don't have anything left to argue and don't have a leg to stand on . . . just pull the race card!

It seems that every day I keep hearing how people on the Right and Republicans are racists.  Just ignore the fact that there is never any evidence that this racism is occurring.  Also, ignore the fact that generally the only time you EVER hear anything about race in the media is when someone on the Left is making an accusation about how racist the Republican Right is.

Take for example the comments of Congressional Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX).  On one hand she makes comments about how the media on the Right and Conservative Bloggers (like myself) should "shut up" and "stop playing racial politics" while on the other hand moments later says that President Obama's "buy American" comment should be "buy African-American" and that if Obama's Jobs Bill passed that any contractors who "do not look like" her need to make sure that if they get federal money their employees "better be reflective of those suffering double-digit unemployment". (from The Blaze)

To me, not only does this sound like the words of a hypocrite and herself a racist, but it also sounded like a threat.  Besides the fact that no one, not even President Obama, think that his Jobs Bill is going to pass.  It has become patently obvious to all of us that he has only put this on the table in order to be shot down by a Republican House so that later, when the economy flushes further down the toilet, and he is in the heat of campaigning, he can bring it up again and blame Republicans for not passing it.  I'm sure the accusation of Republican racism will come into play then also . . . but I digress . . .

Then there are the accusations from my neck of the woods by Maxine Waters (D-CA) on 9/22/11 stating that Republicans "eat his food and drink his beer and leave, then they go and try to kill him [on Capitol Hill]".  What happened to stopping the negative rhetoric Maxine? (from The Blaze)

And on the flip side of the racist rhetoric you have the main stream media complicit in covering up acts of overt racism on the Left.  Take for instance the CBC event where Andre Carson (D-IN) stated that the Tea Party wanted to see him "hanging on a tree".  (the Blaze).  Not only were these comments despicable but it has also come to light that News Anchor Tamron Hall from the MSNBC program "NewsNation" was the moderator of this CBC event.  Why then wasn't this story broken and reported by MSNBC instead of The Blaze? (The Blaze)  Isn't it newsworthy to a reporter that a Congressman is accusing a huge organization like the Tea Party of wanting to lynch him?  It sounds newsworthy to me . . . but then again, I am a Tea Party supporter and member.

These things don't surprise me though.  In fact, they encourage me and are a constant reminder that we are winning the war of ideas, ideals, values and morals.  You see, it is only when you realize that you can't win the war of ideas that you resort to name calling.  Be encouraged.  Once the Left starts yelling "Racist! Racist! Racist!" you know you've won.  So the next time you are having one of those heated conversations with your favorite lefty friend and all they have in response to your facts and reasoning is that you are "uncaring" and you hear "racist" bigot" "homophobes", just relax and smile.

Raising Cain

It’s 2012.  The drive for the Presidency has begun and once again we are looking at a host of candidates that we are trying to figure out.  Who are the candidates that are the straight shooters?  Who are the career politicians looking to climb the next rung of the ladder?  Who is playing politics and is willing to say anything in order to be elected?  Who has experience at . . . running anything!?

Here is how I see the current slate of candidates and potential candidates.

Michele Bachman:  Michelle was one of my favorites from early on.  She’s a Tea Party favorite and shares the same values held by the Tea Party; smaller government, a reduction in taxes and a revamping of the Tax Code and in general she supports the government getting out of the way of business and the lives of the American people.  Here is where I fall away from her, and this comes from her recent debate appearances.  First off, she doesn’t seem to have a solid plan on what she would do as President.  I agree with the generalities but tell me what you are going to do.  Also, and figuring more prominently in my decision, she is coming across as someone who is willing to do or say anything in order to claw her way into the presidency.  This has been especially apparent in her attacks on Rick Perry, and although her points regarding Perry have been valid, the way she has gone about attacking him have really turned me off.

Rick Perry:  There are things that I like about Perry and things that I don’t.  I like his track record on Texas with regards to the economy but really question his stance on illegal immigration, the border, education for illegals and his HPV vaccine decision and the question that has been brought up of “crony capitalism”.  Also, Perry gives me a “Big Government” vibe.  I think we really need to reverse the big government course in this country.  These issues concern me.

Newt Gingrich:  I like Newt.  He is definitely one of the most intelligent candidates running.  He is witty and some of his responses during the debates have really put the moderators in their place.  I like how he doesn’t fall into the moderators traps and doesn’t play the game.  He’s got experience in the political arena and he’s got a proven track record during the Clinton administration of getting the job done and making changes.  I think he needs to be clearer on whether he is a big government guy or wants to shrink the size of government.  I think he is a “common sense” candidate and is willing to do what is necessary to get our economy and this country moving again.  If I have a major problem with him it’s that he is on the environmental wacko side of the man made Global Warming issue.  Standing side by side with Nancy Pelosi on Global Warming (or ANYTHING for that matter) really puts him in the “questionable”  category for me.

Jon Huntsman:  When I think of Jon Huntsman I think wishy washy.  Although his economic ideals seem to be in line with what America needs, his environmental policy and ideology are right out there with Al Gore and the rest of the environmentalist wacko’s.  This bodes badly for ANY kind of regulatory changes making it easier for our own energy independence which in turn bodes badly for our economy.  I can’t see him making changes with the EPA to make it easier for businesses and I don’t see any easing of regulatory reform under him.  Definitely a MODERATE Republican along the lines of McCain and we don’t need another McCain as a nominee.

Gary Johnson:  RINO, RINO, RINO, RINO.  Pro-choice, Pro-immigration, weak foreign policy.  Without ANY regard for what we have going on in the Middle East, he wants to bring home all of our troops from overseas.  This is definitely NOT the way to go.

Ron Paul:  I love the entertainment value of Ron Paul and agree with him about 75% of the time.  He’s great on his tax policy and his views on the Federal Reserve but his foreign policy is SO far out there and SO crazy that he is absolutely un-electable as a serious candidate.  When he started quoting Osama Bin Laden during the recent debate and implied that our foreign policy is what brought about acts of terrorism and the current hatred towards the United States throw him right into the wacko conspiracy theory category.

Mitt Romney:  I like Mitt but he comes across as a Big Government politician.  I like his business experience but the whole RomneyCare thing has me worried.  His also seems like someone willing to say anything in order to be elected.  In addition, he has switched positions on too many things for me.  Now, would he be a better President that Obama?  Hell yes!  And if he is the candidate for the Republican Party I will support him 100%.  As for the whole Mormon thing?  Get over it people.  It’s not an issue and shouldn’t be an issue.

Rick Santorum:  I REALLY like him on all of his policies and with regards to his Conservative values and beliefs I had nothing bad to say about him.  What I don’t like about him is this:  He comes across as negative in how he speaks and very negative towards the other candidates.  When he’s not being negative about the other candidates he is too self centered about himself.  He turns debate questions around about how he is “the only electable person here” and how he “was consistently elected in primarily democratic Pennsylvania.  Stop talking about yourself Rick and stop bashing the other candidates.  Instead, start talking about “specific” things that you would do as President to start changing things around.  Right now I think he would be a GREAT Vice Presidential pick, but I’m not convinced he’s the nominee for the Presidency.

Herman Cain:  Out of ALL the potential candidates, Herman Cain is by far my favorite.  He’s a straight shooter and I know EXACTLY what his positions are on every topic.  He doesn’t pull any punches and he tells it the way he sees it.  He’s NOT a politician.

  • He’s for STRONG national security and a limited government and that we must stand strong with our allies throughout the world and never be fooled by our enemies.  He understands the threat of terrorism and the need for a strong stance and military might.  In terms of war, if you are going to fight a war, you fight to WIN the war and not for political reasons.
  • He believes that government spending is out of control and understands that major cuts need to be made in entitlement programs and government bureaucracy.  There are no sacred cows as far as spending cuts go for him.
  • On illegal immigration he is for closing our borders, enforcing our current laws and promoting an “existing” path to citizenship.
  • On energy, he is for less regulation and taking advantage of our own natural resources in order to become energy independent.  He is against subsidies for agricultural products including corn for ethanol production and believes in the power of the free market.  He is also for new forms of energy production but believes that private industry should take the reins and that we should be thinking about its long term (as opposed to immediate) energy benefits.
  • On the economy he believes in less legislation, less regulation, lower taxes and business friendly policies.  He is a huge proponent of Tax reform and is the ONLY candidate who has proposed a solution through his 9-9-9 tax reform plan, which is a three part flat tax plan with a 9% corporate tax, a 9% income tax and a 9% consumption tax.  Not only would this reduce the countries tax burden but it would make the United States the country with the lowest tax rates on corporations which would encourage foreign companies to do business in the U.S.  It would also repatriate businesses that have left the country by suspending their tax burden.
  • On healthcare, he would REPEAL OBAMACARE  and institute patient centered free market reforms.  Institute Tort reforms for frivolous lawsuits and loosen restrictions on HSA’s.
  • He is against the entitlement mentality and urges reform on entitlement programs.
  • In education he is for school vouchers and decentralizing education from the federal government.

It's unfortunate that I don't see Herman Cain being treated as a serious candidate by the media.  To me he is the most viable candidate that embodies all of the values that I have as a Conservative.  He's not a politician.  He's a business man that I feel confident would turn our economy around and balance our fiasco of a federal budget.

It's time to take a closer look at Herman Cain as a serious candidate, leader and Presidential contender and I think it's time to "Raise a Little Cain!!"

Declaration of Rights and Responsibilities

A while back I wrote an article about George Washington's "Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior".  Well today, all American's of moral character have been given a new challenge, a new "declaration" on how we should live our lives and of how we should treat our fellow people.  Where Washington used "110 Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation" to forge his moral character, personality and rules for living, we have received a new charter to help forge our moral character as citizens of these United States of America and as people who respect and revere our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Today there is a new Declaration.  A Declaration of Rights and Responsibilities which was presented today by Glenn Beck in his Restoring Courage event in Israel.  If you have studied our Constitution and our Bill of Rights you will find these 10 Declarations common sense.  Please read these declarations and make them a part of your daily life, your daily routine.

~ excerpt Glenn Beck, Restoring Courage event 8/24/11

Thus, we the people do hereby declare not only our rights, but do now establish this bill of responsibilities.

1. Because I have the right to choose, I recognize that I am accountable to God…and have the responsibility to keep the 10 commandments in my own life.
2. Because I have the right to worship as I choose, I have the responsibility to honor the right of others to worship as they see fit.
3. Because I have freedom of speech, I have the responsibility to defend the speech of others, even if I strongly disagree with what they’re saying.
4. Because I have the right to pursue happiness, I have the responsibility to show humility and express gratitude for all the blessings I enjoy and the rights I’ve been given.
5. Because I have the right to honest and good government…I will seek out honest and just representatives when possible. If I cannot find one then I accept the responsibility to take that place.
6. Because I have the God given right to liberty…I have the personal responsibility to have the courage to defend others to be secure in their persons, lives and property.
7. Because I have the right to equal justice…I will stand for those who are wrongly accused or unjustly blamed.
8. Because I have the right to knowledge…I will be accountable for myself and my children’s education…to live our lives in such a way that insures the continuation of truth.
9. Because I have the right to pursue my dreams and keep the fruits of my labor…I have the responsibility to feed, protect and shelter my family, the less fortunate, the fatherless, the old and infirm.
10. Because I have a right to the truth…I will not bear false witness nor will not stand idly by as others do.
To this "Declaration of Rights and Responsibilities" I pledge.  I will follow this example in my daily life and through this declaration help guide others to follow MY example.  And for every person who follows my example I pledge to help them be an example to others.
To this I pledge.

Robin Hood should have been locked up with all the other criminals!

Transcript of Obama town hall meeting in Illinois 8/17/11 (just a few examples)

The President:

"And basically what they recommended was what I’ve been talking about, which is a balanced approach in which we’re making some modifications to what’s called discretionary spending...and how we raise additional revenue so that we bring the overall budget into a sustainable place."

"because they said, we’re not going to vote for anything that has revenue in it. "

"And I’ve been concerned that Speaker Boehner has already said that the folks he assigned, none of them can vote to increase revenues."

"So the bottom line is this:  I will be presenting, as I’ve already presented -- I did back earlier this year -- a plan that says we’re going to have spending cuts and we’re going to have revenue.  We’ll have more spending cuts than we have revenue, but we’re going to have to take a balanced approach and everything is going to be on the table"

"And so I think it’s also important to understand that we can raise the kind of revenues we’re talking about without having an impact on middle-class families who are already struggling and haven’t seen their wages and their incomes go up in over a decade now."

So okay, Mr. President, let's cut the crap already.  I'm sick and tired of you, the progressive left politicians and the main stream media talking about "raising revenue" for the government to help deal with the deficit and our budget gap.  Stop LYING to the American people and say what you really mean.  You want to "RAISE TAXES" on the American people in order to pay for the GROSS NEGLIGENCE of the governments outrageous spending (both Democrat and Republican) which has gotten us into this financial mess.

We are not idiots.  We know that the government CANNOT raise revenue and CANNOT create jobs.  It can only TAX the American people and REDISTRIBUTE THE WEALTH from that taxation to someone placed in a government position which is probably needless and redundant.

In other words, the government and steal/take by force our hard earned money so that they can give it to someone else like Robin Hood and his merry men.  Well I have news for you.  Robin Hood was a thief and should have been locked up with all the rest of the criminals!  It's because of this "steal from the rich and give to the poor" bull crap that has glorified the idea of taxation and redistribution of wealth to begin with!

It's time for you politicians to come straight with the American People.  You want to TAX us so the you can spend and WASTE our money to your hearts content.  You and your merry band of crooked thieves want to steal from us hard working Americans, Business Owners and JOB CREATORS just so you can blow all our money like drunken sailors!  (And I apologize for insulting any drunken sailors out there.  You couldn't POSSIBLY be as bad as these thieves).

It's time to STAND UP and LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD!!

The time for government irresponsibility is OVER.  It's time for the American People to call and write our representatives and let them know that we will no longer approve the blank checks that they have been writing.  It's time to let them know that it is NOT ACCEPTABLE for them to spend more than they take in.  It is NOT ACCEPTABLE for them to NOT have a balanced budget.  It is time to let them know that it is time for us to pass a BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT to the Constitution and it HAS TO HAVE A SPENDING CAP!  That is crucial because without a spending cap the government could still spend whatever they wanted and then use the amendment  as an excuse to RAISE TAXES in order to balance the budget.  And THAT would be unacceptable!

It's time to kick Robin Hood out of the forest.  It's time for our elected officials to get their sh** together or get the hell out.  It's time for Responsible Americans to find those delinquent representatives and run for their public offices and kick them out if they refuse to change.

Gee . . . your right. It's all the Tea Parties Fault . . .

Last week I wrote about how the Tea Party was being set up by the people on the left to take the fall for all of our current problems.  Well I wont beat a dead horse but I did want to share the latest stories on how the "evil" Tea Party is destroying America.

http://landing.newsinc.com/shared/video.html?freewheel=90119&sitesection=theblaze&VID=23497259

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/john-kerry-this-is-the-tea-party-downgrade/

http://youtu.be/y0Sy19DRa_U

So what are you going to do now my Tea Party brothers and sisters?  See my previous article for some ideas.

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Where do you stand, and with whom?

If you are just like me, you are a proud American who believes in the founding principals of our great nation.  You believe that ALL men are created equal and that "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" are your in-alienable rights which have been endowed by your Creator.  You might be a Republican.  You might be a Libertarian.  You are probably a Conservative.  You might be, just like me, a PROUD member of a Tea Party.

If you are a member of the Tea Party, are you as sick, tired and frustrated as I am that you are being made out to be a psychotic drug addict akin to the Norway killer like in Martin  Bashir's interview on MSNBC?  Maybe you are tired of being called a racist and that you HATE black people or if you ARE black and a Tea Party member you are a sell-out and an "Uncle Tom". (video)  Or even worse, maybe you are frustrated and confused by the blatant LYING by the media about the Tea Party and how we are ruining the country.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are being SET UP!  Most recently we are being set up on this whole debt crisis/Boehner/Reid HORRIBLE compromise deal.  How is it that the Tea Party won and got their way.  How is it that the Tea Party is holding the country hostage and are being compared to terrorists by our own Vice President!?  How is it that the Tea Party is being given credit for this garbage legislation.  There isn't A SINGLE Tea Party member that I know of that likes this debt deal!

It:

  1. "cuts" 2.1 Trillion from our debt over the next 10 years.  But that is a LIE!  What is ACTUALLY does is cut $2.1 Trillion from the $10 Trillion INCREASE to our debt over the next 10 years.  In other words, our government has estimated a $10 Trillion INCREASE in our debt over the next 10 years and they have said they are going to CUT that by 2.1 Trillion.  HOW IS THAT A CUT!!
  2. It creates a new "Super Committee" that will in effect make any type of filibuster a moot point because a simple majority within the committee will be able to push any legislation through anyway.
  3. It cuts too slowly. Even if you believe cutting $2.1 trillion out of $10 trillion is a good compromise, surely we can start cutting quickly, say $200 billion-$300 billion per year, right? Wrong. This plan so badly backloads the alleged savings that the cuts are simply meaningless. Why do we believe that the goal of $2.5 trillion over 10 years (that's an average of $250 billion per year) will EVER be met if the first two years cuts are $20 billion and $50 billion. There is simply no path in this bill even to the meager savings they are alleging will take place. (#3 taken from Rand Paul's open letter about the debt deal)
  4. Additionally, buried in the bill is a provision for an "automatic debt limit increase" which transfers the power for approving the increase to the President and only a 2/3 vote from Congress can stop it from happening.  Do you really want Obama to have that kind of power?
. . . but I digress . . .

This isn't about how crappy a bill this is.  It's about how the Tea Party is being set up to take the fall for the Bill once it starts going down in flames.  Folks we are being set up right now so that the media will be able to come back and say that it's "all the Tea Parties fault" for passing this bill and how WE have ruined the country.  Prepare for it folks, because it is going to happen.

So what are YOU/WE going to do about it?  How do we fight this monstrous BIAS of the media and Washington?  Hell, even the Republicans are setting us up to take the fall!

Well, here is what we can do.

  1. Start taking care of yourself and PREPARE!  In other words, "Prepare for the worst and hope for the best."
    • Get yourself out of debt!  We have no right to bitch about them if we don't start following our own advice.
    • Stock up for a rainy day.  Food, Water, Emergency fund, etc.
    • If you are going to invest then maybe start thinking about gold, silver, etc.
  2. BE LOUD and get the message out!
    • Use facebook and other social media sites like The "e4" Connection to spread the word.
    • Join EVERY social networking political/Tea Party group out there and start commenting and showing your displeasure and what you want.
    • Contact you Congressmen and Senators and go to the Town Halls when they are in town.  Make your presence known!  You are an ACTUAL PERSON and THEY WORK FOR YOU and NOT the other way around!
    • Start going to more Tea Party rally's and invite people that you know.
    • Celebrate the Fourth of July with your family and your children!  Even Harvard says that it creates more Republicans, link
    • Educate your children on our founding principals, culture and the Constitution.  Check out "e4" Educators at The "e4" Connection.  After all if you don't educate them, then the Public School system will.
  3. Talk to your friends and family.  Tell them that you are part of the Tea Party.  Educate them on what it means and DON'T STAND for them calling the Tea Party racist, etc.
It's up to us folks.  It's time to STAND UP, TAKE ACTION, and BE COUNTED!  Make your voices heard.  STAND TOGETHER!  VOTE!  If we can turn the Senate and the Presidency and have a super majority then maybe we can turn this country around.

It's up to you.

Searching for Bread Crumbs, Glenn Beck and "e4"

Last week, an amazing thing happened as a result of my blog post "Sometimes, It's Harder to Give Than it is to Receive".

On Thursday of last week I was contacted by The Glenn Beck Program and asked to come on the show for this week’s LIVE studio audience on Thursday at 5pm EST to tell my story.  So far this entire experience has made me think of what Glenn talked about in his book "The 7: Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life" .  You have to look for the signs that appear in everyday life and how he put it, "follow the breadcrumbs" that are placed in your path.

The past few years have been chock full of following breadcrumbs, and until this week I wasn't sure where they were leading.  Now I know; to the doorstep of Glenn Beck and to the destiny that I was placed on this earth for.  It is a story of “e4” and Entrepreneurship.  Here are my breadcrumbs that I have been following . . .
My story begins in failure and depression . . .  but ends in triumph.

I have always been an entrepreneur, in my heart and in my soul.  I remember having conversations with my dad about different ideas growing up and him telling me stories with a longing look in his eyes about the ideas and the different ventures that he tried and that unfortunately, never took off.  One of these stories involved a snow sled that my father and a friend, designed and had manufactured.  I found a stack of them in the basement and wanted to take one out and slide down the hill in my backyard.  It was then that I learned that the sled was so poorly designed that even on a 45 degree angle the thing just wouldn’t slide.  I remember the pained look on his face when he found me trying to use it in the backyard and watching the same thing happen to me as had happened to him while demoing it in the snow.  But I digress . . .

My story really begins about 8 years ago after I moved back to Los Angeles from Tucson, AZ to take care of family.  It was then that I got my insurance license and started selling Long Term Care insurance in Orange County.  My first failure out here was that I was a HORRIBLE insurance salesman.  The one thing that I was really good at though, was Networking.  I use to go to all the breakfast and lunch meetings in Orange County.  I belonged to 2 Chamber of Commerce and even had my own handpicked networking coffee group that I started with the people I had met from the other groups.  It never helped me at all selling insurance, but it helped me sell myself and it also taught me how to listen to the business owners around me and what their problems and challenges were in the businesses they were in.  Here is what I learned.  They ALL were networking because other more traditional forms of advertising their business were just too expensive.  It was the RARE person I met that was able to afford $1000 plus a month for a Yellow Pages ad and those that could were struggling paying that monthly bill (even though most said that they got business from the ad).  Networking was also a way for them to get in front of their potential customers, utilize their 30 second elevator speech to describe their business and have the potential for these same people to refer business to them.  The trouble that they had came down to what they call in Advertising, the rule of 8, or it generally takes about 8 times in front of a person for any type of advertising to work.  It was definitely a long term commitment and for some of them (depending on the business) those breakfast and lunch costs started adding up pretty quickly.

It was at this point where I thought to myself, “Self.  There has to be a better way”.  So I decided to build my own online “Business Directory” that incorporated ALL the different aspects of a Yellow Pages, Chamber of Commerce and a Networking meeting and put it into an online format.  Businesses would be able to control their pages with their own username and login, they would be able to upload their audio commercials, photos, PPT presentations, have a Bio with Ratings and Testimonials from their clients and would even be able to “list” all the other small businesses that they referred to, and if those businesses referred back it would show up on their page also.  It was called “The Platinum Business Network”.

It was a great idea.  Everyone said so.  Still, it FAILED.  It failed MISERABLY.  For 4 plus years I invested my life into it.  My web designer and the programmers never got it quite right and never got it working properly and unfortunately I was marketing it the whole time at my meetings and events (in fact there is still a YouTube video of me at a trade show with my booth at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CiG5s7apuk).  This wasn’t my web designers fault.  It was mine.  It was more about ME and MY business than it was about building something to help my fellow entrepreneurs.  It is no wonder that it was a colossal failure.  After the 4 years, I ran out of money, told my web designers to stop working and I quit.  I never stopped paying for the servers though out of sheer stubbornness.  It remained alive even though in essence, it was dead.

I quit.  I failed.  I lost and I was a loser.  I became a Security Guard working the graveyard shift at a local resort.  But I did what I had to do to bring in a paycheck and contribute to my family, even if it was only enough to pay a couple of bills.  At the time, I thought I had lost a lot (pride, dignity, etc.) but at least I didn’t lose my house.

Working the graveyard shift also gave me the ability to do one other thing.  Get home from work; go to sleep and then wake up in time to watch the Glenn Beck Show.  That was when I started getting my self-respect back.  I had afternoons to go to Tea Party rallies and participate.  I wasn’t able to do a whole lot, but I started to pay closer attention to the things around me.  I started to read and educate myself.  I’ll never forget when I brought “American History in Black and White” by David Barton into work and one of my black security guard friends asked me what I was reading.  I told him and let him borrow the book when I was done.  As you can guess, I got the same reaction that Glenn did from the people that work on his show.  He was “pissed” and couldn’t believe he had never learned any of this before.  Another convert.  I went through it all.  The education, Founders Fridays (WINNING!), 8/28 on the webcast, 9/12 project, 40 day challenge, Faith Hope and Charity, The Seven Wonders, and then, “e4”.

I watched those shows about “e4” and I remembered how you said that it was the “entrepreneurs” and small business people that were going to save this country.  I remember standing in front of the TV and cheering you on.  Then you said that it was up to “ME”.  I had to stand up and take control.  I had to be the “entrepreneur”.  I HAD TO HELP SAVE THE COUNTRY.

I thought about my website.
In hindsight, I should have known that The Platinum Business Network was going to fail.  At the time I was thinking more about myself and the money I would make than how it would help other people.

But where The Platinum Business Network would fail, BizClicker.com would succeed and thrive!

This time, I would do it right.  This time it would be about helping businesses.  I called my web designer and said, “We are going to rebuild the website.  I can’t pay you but let me tell you my plan and I would like you to be a part of it.  We are going to rebuild it and all businesses and customers are going to be able to have it for free.  Don’t worry about making money right now because somehow I know everything will work out”.  I don’t know why but he said yes.

I talked at the beginning about signs and following bread crumbs.  This past Tuesday, 5/10 was our re-launch date.  We rebuilt it better than ever with the addition of full integration to Facebook with tutorials for businesses on how they can create their own Facebook Business pages and integrate them into our website.  We were going to launch it and see what happened, and then I got a message from the Glenn Beck Program.
After coming down off my high, I immediately thought of “e4”, “Entrepreneurship” and Glenn’s plans for the future.  I pictured him just like he described before 8/28 when he found that he was going to have to put out more money for the event.  Down on his knees asking God what more he could do and to send him some kind of sign or help.  I pictured him doing the same thing as he was making his plans for the future.  Him saying, “I don’t know how I’m going to accomplish this but I know you will send the answers my way.  I thought, “I am being sent his way”.  I thought that this could be the “Freedom Connector” for entrepreneurs and small businesses around the country.  I said to myself, somehow, this was meant to be.

At that point I decided that BizClickr.com was meant to help Glenn and his “e4” project and that I would put it at his disposal to utilize in any way that he could.  I might not be able to mention any of this on today’s show, but somehow I know that everything will work out the way it is supposed to.

So I say for all of Glenn’s listeners who are Entrepreneurs and business owners that BizClickr.com is for you.  It is a resource for you to communicate and advertise you business at NO COST.  It is time for the Entrepreneur to help mend the injuries that have been done to our economy and country.

It is time to revive entrepreneurship in this country.  All businesses will receive free advertising and customers will not have to pay for viewing the information.  All they have to do is sign up.

The website is:  www.bizclickr.com and the Facebook page for integration is www.facebook.com/bizclickr .

I truly believe that this is where my breadcrumbs have led me to and because of Glenn Beck’s “e4” Project and Entrepreneurship our country will begin to turn around and start heading in the right direction.

Fellow Entrepreneurs:  It’s up to us.

Sometimes, It's Harder to Give than it is to Receive....Thank you Glenn Beck 4/21/11

Sometimes, it is harder to give...than it is to receive...

I can't think of a better way to start my blog up again than by relaying to you my days experience.

Today, actually started about a month ago, when I heard about a "flash mob of kindness" that was going to happen on Thursday, 4/21/2011.  On the Glenn Beck Radio program, Glenn mentioned that he wanted to start a "flash mob" on the 21st of April where people just went out and did something kind for another person.  The example that Glenn used was to get a bag of groceries and go to an unemployment office, street corner with someone asking for money, etc. and just walk up to the person, give them a bag of food, tell them that you were in their thoughts and that you hoped that this would help in some small way.  Basically, give them the gift of kindness, turn around and walk away.  It wasn't about them knowing who it was from or anything other than someone out there cared about them enough to give them a kindness.

When I heard this, I was blown away.  Although I had often thought about doing something like this I always felt EXTREMELY uncomfortable following through.  When Glenn suggested it, I knew I had to follow through.  Little did I know how hard it was going to be.

You would think it would be easy.  Grab some groceries and give them to the first homeless person on the corner that you saw...  Easy peasey right?  Not quite.  I had first decided that just a bag of food wasn't enough.  In addition I went out to get a copy of Glenn's book "The 7: Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life" to add to the gift.  Well apparently, other people had the same idea because I couldn't find a copy of the book in any of the bookstores that I went too. When I asked, the people said that it was very strange but the bookstore had sold out ALL of their copies in the last few days.  After 4 bookstores I knew that people had the same idea I had.  It was no problem however.  I had already read the book (twice) and decided that it would mean even more if I gave my copy, dogeared, highlighted and everything, to the person in question.

Sooooooo, I had my food and I had my personal copy of "The 7" and all I had to do was go give it away.  I found, that I couldn't however.  I had at least 3 options of people I could give it to, but I realized that this gift had to be given to the right person and not just someone who would gobble down the food and toss the book into the nearest trash can.

My first person, was a man of about 55 years, with a long Santa beard, worn down cloths and a shopping cart fully loaded with what seemed like ALL his belongings.  It was a no-brainer, right??  I thought so until I parked my car and decided to spend a couple minutes observing the situation.  Boy was I disappointed with what I observed.  Within 5 minutes, another woman came by and sat down with him, then both pulled out a wad of money and started tallying it in front of the store.  I mean, I saw multiple $20's and higher in the stacks.  Admittedly, I was pissed, and almost gave up right then and there.  I decided not to though.

The next couple I approached were a husband and wife who frequented an intersection near my home.  I figured that they might be a good couple in need of some assistance.  They were in their usual spot, so I parked my car and brought my bag of groceries out into the center median to the wife.  While there, I said that I wanted to give this to her and her husband and that I hoped it would help out in some small way.  Her response was, "We don't want your food, do you have any money?"  I told her that, no, I didn't,  and she asked me to leave because  I was distracting the rest of the people from giving her money.

I have to tell you Glenn, at this point I was getting not only angry, but a little depressed.  So with close to $50 worth of groceries and my book, I didn't know what to do.  So I gave up and went home.  I got home and was angry.  This was not supposed to be hard!  Buy groceries, give them away and feel GOOD about yourself.  Well, God doesn't always make things easy.

While watching TV, I began to ponder my situation.  Maybe it wasn't supposed to be easy.  It was then that I remembered something vague from my morning drive to work.  Every morning I see the same guy.  He's about 30-ish and at around 6:45am is always heading away from the Wells Fargo with a full camping backpack and a couple of bags.  I only ever saw him in the morning but it hit me that maybe he was sleeping somewhere in the parking lot near the bank.  It was 10pm, but I left my house anyway and went to the location.  Sure enough, there he was with his sleeping bag laid out under the Wells Fargo overhang.

When I got out of my truck with my groceries I had decided to say a few words to him and let him know that there was someone out there who cared.  He was sound asleep though so I decided not to wake him.  Instead, I placed the bags by his head, opened up the book and wrote on the inside cover a short note.

Dear friend,

Life changes constantly from one day to the next.  Some days are good, and some days are bad.  This isn't a lot, but hopefully it will help.  I hope that this will be the beginning of some better days.

God Bless,

From someone who cares.

This morning, at 6:45am I didn't see him like usual walking down the street so I pulled into the parking lot.  There he was, sitting against the wall with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich reading the book.  I cried the rest of the drive to work.

Now, I know why Glenn wanted us to do this.  It wasn't about being kind to a stranger in need, although that was part of it.  Glenn knew that by doing this, it would awaken something within the heart of the giver.  He knew that this would be the first step in awakening a greater sense of giving in the individual, and that by doing it April 21st would turn into May 21st which would then turn into twice a month then once a week and then every day.

I appreciate what Glenn has done for me as a person and what he has done for this nation.  He has created an army of people who will be there for each other and for perfect strangers in a time of need.  Thank you Glenn.
